WATERBURY, Conn. - - The Wilmington University women's soccer team outshot Post, but the two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams played to a 0-0 tie on LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats (5-2-2, 3-1-1 CACC) outshot the Eagles (2-5-1, 2-3-1 CACC), 21-9, in the match, including 6-0 in the overtime periods, but neither team could find the back of the net. The Wildcats also earned more corners, 12-1, including 3-0 in the second overtime.
Wilmington put up 10 shots in the first half, including back-to-back shots from Lauren Hoelke in the 10th minute. Kasie Lambert's corner found Rockesha Dayes in the 15th minute, but her shot was wide as well.
The Wildcats had a few opportunities in the overtime sessions, including a free-kick from Kasie Lambert that was saved in the 95th minute. Jana Badia had a rebound opportunity seconds later, but her shot was wide of the net. Samantha Emmi's header off a corner was saved in the 97th minute as well.
Alicia Whyte's chance in the 103rd minute was turned aside while the Wildcats had two corners I the final sessions as well. Samantha Emmi's final chance, a header in the 109th minute was blocked.
Manuela Restrepo, Lauren Hoelke, and Samantha Emmi led the 'Cats with two shots on goal each. Emily Camp finished with three saves for the shutout.
The Wildcats step outside the CACC for their next two games, first against East Region power Bridgeport on Tuesday. They host the Purple Knights at the WU Athletics Complex at 3:30 p.m.
