WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team heads into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed this weekend, being played at the Delcastle Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday.

Semifinals – Friday, October 22
10:00 a.m. - #1 Wilmington vs. #4 Chestnut Hill
1:00 p.m. - #2 Jefferson vs. #3 USciences
Championship – Saturday, October 23
12:00 p.m. – Match #1 Winner vs. Match #2 Winner
The Wildcats ran through the CACC regular season undefeated, going a perfect 6-0 to win the Regular Season Championship and earn the No. 1 seed in the Tournament. They will host No. 4 Chestnut Hill in the CACC Tournament Semifinal on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
Wilmington and Chestnut Hill met in the first CACC match of the year for the Wildcats, with the Wildcats coming out on top, 7-0, on Homecoming at the Delcastle Tennis Center. The Wildcats took all three doubles matches with Neus Ramos Moreno and Valentine Ivankovic winning at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, Jess Purdy and Marley Trifunovic won, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles, and Fenna Swaan and Larize Nel won, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.
Neus Ramos Moreno had a battle at No. 1 singles, coming back to defeat Carlota Garcia, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), and 10-8 in the third set tiebreaker. Begona Gomar won at No. 2, 6-0 and 6-1, while Jess Purdy won at No. 3 singles, 6-4 and 6-4. Valentina Ivankovic defeated Lottie Allin, 6-1 and 6-0, while Marley Trifunovic was in a battle at No. 5 singles, winning 6-3 and 7-5. Larize Nel completed the clean sweep with a 6-1 and 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The Wildcats had the most student-athletes named All-CACC, led by Neus Ramos Moreno being the CACC Player of the Year and a First Team All-CACC member. Begona Gomar, Valentina Ivankovic, and Jess Purdy were all named Second Team All-CACC. Troy Donato was also voted as the CACC Coach of the Year by the league's sports information directors.
The Griffins placed two on the Second Team All-CACC team, anchored by Carlota Garcia Arguelles and Annika Wise.
Jefferson defeated USciences on Tuesday to earn the No. 2 seed while knocking the Devils down to the No. 3 seed for the other CACC Tournament Semifinal which will be played at 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center.
