2022 CACC Pitcher of the Year Ryan Sandberg Signs with Milwaukee Brewers

NEWARK, Del. - - Former Wilmington University baseball standout Ryan Sandberg has been picked up by the Milwaukee Brewers, signing a minor league contract to play for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2025.

Appearing on the MLB transactions page on January 15, Sandberg was signed to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the High-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Timber Rattlers play at Neuroscience Group Field in Appleton, Wisconsin, and are a member of the Midwest League

Ryan Sandberg most recently spent time in the Frontier League, finishing second in the league with a 2.18 ERA in 24 appearances last year for the Quebec Capitales. He went 7-2 in 15 starts last year, pitching 103.1 innings with 107 strikeouts and only 20 walks. He split the 2023 season with the Empire State Greys and the Quebec Capitales after spending the 2022 season with the Trenton Thunder of the MLB Draft League.

As a Wildcat, he was the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year, going 9-3 with 13 starts with two complete games. He threw 78 innings and struck out a program-record 110 batters with only 19 walks, finishing with a 3.35 ERA. In his two-year career at Wilmington, Sandberg was 13-4 with three complete games, striking out 139 batters in 114.2 innings. He was a First Team All-East Region pitcher according to the ABCA, the D2CCA, and the NCBWA organizations at the end of the season.

Milwaukee is a member of the Cactus League in Arizona for Spring Training. Sandberg will report to American Family Fields in Phoenix with the rest of the pitchers and catchers on Thursday, February 13.
