
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The 14th ranked West Chester Golden Rams won the 2025 Bill Giles Invitational Championship over the Wilmington University baseball team, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Wildcats (18-12) struck first with a run in the top of the second, but a two-run homer in the third and two more runs in the fourth gave the Golden Rams their fourth straight and 16th Bill Giles Invitational Championship.
Brandon Grygo singled to start the game but was left stranded at the third. Josearmando Diaz singled to start the top of the second and was standing on third with no outs. Shawn Edevane put down a bunt to bring in Diaz for the game's first run.
Starter Tyler Reinert got the first two batters out to start the bottom of the third, but a walk and a two-run homer gave the Golden Rams the 2-1 lead.
The Golden Rams loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth, scoring on a sacrifice fly and a two-out double to make it a 4-1 game.
The Wildcats had one base runner from the third inning on, as Sean Glatts bunted his way on in the top of the seventh. He stole second as well but was left stranded at second base.
Zack Czarnecki (1.1 innings), Zach Frame (2.0 innings), Alex Krick (0.2 innings), and Dom Marotta (0.1 inning) all had scoreless appearances out of the pen.
The Wildcats are right back to action tomorrow, returning to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a doubleheader at Dominican. The games will be played at Clover Stadium in Pomona, New York. The first pitch is slated for 11:00 a.m.
