
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - - Dominican extended its winning streak to 14 straight with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader sweep over the Wilmington University baseball team, 12-2 and 6-1, on Thursday at Clover Stadium.
GAME 1:
Dominican scored in all but two innings in the opener, bringing on the 10-run rule in the bottom of the eighth.
Dominican's Luis Rivera went all eight innings for the Chargers, striking out five while allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks.
The Chargers got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the second, scoring on an RBI single, an RBI triple, and a wild pitch. A leadoff triple scored in the bottom of the third and then the Chargers scored three runs all with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.
The deficit grew to 11-0 after six innings as the Chargers scored two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings. The Wildcats got on the board in the top of the seventh to extend the game, loading the bases with no outs. Jordan Santiago and Justin Hernandez hit RBI groundouts to bring the Wildcats to within 11-2.
The Chargers ended the game in the bottom of the eighth with another two-out rally, hitting an RBI single to plate a walk.
Josearmando Diaz and Justin Hernandez had two hits each for the Wildcats for the Wildcats.
GAME 2:
The Chargers scored all six runs in their first four at bats of the nightcap as Anthony Leak only allowing an unearned run on two hits and eight strikeouts.
A leadoff walk scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first and then the Chargers used an RBI double and a two-run homer to take a 4-0 lead.
The Wildcats got on the board with a first and third play in the top of the fourth but the Chargers answered with two more runs on three hits in the home half to open a 6-1 advantage.
The Wildcats left two on in the fifth and single runners on in the sixth and seventh innings to end it. They left five runners on base in the nightcap.
Kory Pritchard and Josearmando Diaz had the two hits for the Wildcats in the nightcap.

The Wildcats return to action this weekend by welcoming CACC newcomer Lincoln (Pa.) to Wilson Field for a doubleheader on Saturday. The first pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
