NEWARK, Del. - - Catch all the action as the Wilmington University cheerleading team heads to the 2025 UCA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships this weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
The Wildcats have won 10 UCA National Championships since 2012 and are looking for their third straight this weekend. The UCA reclassified its divisions for the 2025 National Championships, so the Wildcats will now be competing in the Small Coed Division I Cheer Gameday Competition and the Small Coed Division I Cheer brackets. The reclassification is now a combination of NCAA Division I FCS and NCAA Division II programs using a maximum of five male competitors.
The Wildcats will start their weekend on Friday morning, competing in the Small Coed Division I Cheer Gameday competition. They are among 21 entries in the division and will look to wow the judges starting at 9:18 a.m. with their routine. Finalists for the event will be announced at 12:30 p.m. and then the finals and awards ceremony will be on Saturday evening starting after 6:00 p.m.
The traditional cheerleading routines will kick off on Saturday afternoon, as they Wildcats will compete in the Small Coed Division I division again. Their routine is scheduled for 1:14 p.m. They are among 15 teams who earned their way into the National Championships. Finalists will be named at 3:30 and then those teams will compete on Sunday morning starting at 9:06 a.m. for a National Championship. The awards ceremony will begin at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.
