DAVENPORT, Fla. - - The Wilmington University golf team closed out its 2022 fall season at the Citrus Intercollegiate, competing against nine ranked NCAA Division II teams at the Champions Gate Golf Club. The Wildcats finished 14th with a three-round score of 921.

The Wildcats finished with rounds of 317-302-302 for their 921 (+57), finishing 14th out of 14 squads. The 2nd, 3rd, 15th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 26th, 41st, and 48th ranked teams were a part of the tournament.

The Wildcats were led by Pablo Quintero who finished tied for 34th overall. He finished one over par for the tournament, shooting rounds of 76-68-73 for a 217 (+1). The 68 (-4) in the second round ties his own round of 68, as well as Tyler Cleaves' round of 68, at the Vulcan Invitational as the low round of the season for the Wildcats. Quintero was tied for 17th in the tournament on Par 4 Scoring, finishing the par four holes at even par over the three rounds. In that second round 68, Quintero had six birdies, including a stretch of four out of five holes to start the back-nine.

Matthew Pulgini finished tied for 68th overall, shooting rounds of 78-75-74 for a 227 (+11). He was ranked tied for 11th in the tournament with 39 pars in his three rounds. Only a few holes each round hurt Pulgini, as he played well throughout. He had back-to-back birdies in the first round to get to two-under par before a triple and double bogey derailed his round. He also had two birdies in the second round, and then started his third round with a birdie as well.

Tyler Cleaves finished 71st overall in the tournament with a 235 (+19), getting better with every round he played. He shot rounds of 84-77-74, with a birdie in each round. His third round started with a bogey, but a birdie on the par four 9th got him back to one-over par.

Blake Ramirez finished 75th overall with a 242, shooting rounds of 79-82-81 to finish at 26 over-par. He had two birdies in each the second and third rounds of the tournament.

Jan Lekes finished in 76th place overall, shooting rounds of 86-83-87 for a 256 (+40). Lekes had one birdie in each of his rounds.

Nationally third ranked Barry won the tournament with rounds of 280-271-287 for an 838 (-26). Nationally 15th ranked Nova Southeastern finished second with rounds of 276-283-283 for a 842 (-22). Florida Southern's Adam Alvarez won medalist honors by a stroke, shooting rounds of 67-67-69 for a 209 (-13). Carson-Newman's Jake Mynatt was second with rounds of 69-66-69 for a 204 (-12).

The Wildcats will return to the course in the spring and will be looking to catch fire to earn an at-large into the NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional in May.
