Wildcats Wrap Fall Season With 13th Place Finish at Lenoir-Rhyne Fall Invite

HICKORY, N.C. - - The Wilmington University golf team wrapped up its fall season at the Lenoir-Rhyne Fall Invitational, finishing in 13th place after three rounds at the Lake Hickory Country Club.

The Wildcats shot rounds of 316-319-299 for a three-round total of 934 (+70) and in 13th out of 16 teams. Host Lenoir-Rhyne won the tournament with a three-round score of 875 (+11).

Freshman Noah Wallace completed his impression first fall season with a 14th place finish, leading the Wildcats. He shot rounds of 72 (E)-76 (+4)-74 (+2) for a 222 (+6). Starting on the 10th hole in the opening round, a double bogey on 17 had the freshman make the turn at two-over, but he answered with birdies on holes two and five, and then got back to even par with birdies on his final two holes. He also had one birdie in the second round and three more in the third round.

Pablo Quintero's third round 72 (E) moved him up 13 spots on the leaderboard, finishing the three-rounds with a 236 (+20). He shot rounds of 85-79-72 to finish in a tie for 58th overall. In the third round, he shot a double bogey on the par-five first hole, but then answered by going two-under par over the next seven holes to get back to even par. He had six birdies in the third round alone.

Blake Ramirez and Sacha Brown finished in a tie for 72nd overall, posting three-round scores  of 241 (+25) each. Sacha Brown moved up three positions with his third round score of 76 to get into 72nd, shooting rounds of 83-82-76 while Ramirez shot rounds of 82-82-77 for his 241. Brown notched an eagle on the par four third hole on Tuesday, highlighting his 76 (+4). Ramirez had a birdie on the par four seventh hole to highlight his round on Tuesday.

Freshman Josh Freeman finished in a tie for 79th overall for the Wildcats, shooting rounds of 79-83-84 for a 246 (+30). Starting on the 12th hole in the first round, Freeman birdied the par five 15thand the par five first to get to one-under par through eight holes.

Lenoir-Rhyne's Holt Allison, ranked No. 8 in NCAA DII, won the tournament with a 213 (-3), shooting rounds of 69-74-70.

The Wildcats will take the winter months off and then return to action in early spring to continue vying for a spot in the NCAA DII Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament in May.
