Pablo Quintero and Wilmington Golf Win Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational at Penn Oaks

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - - It came down to the final holes, but the Wilmington University golf team and Pablo Quintero won the 2025 Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational hosted by West Chester at the Penn Oaks Golf Club on Tuesday.

The Wildcats shot rounds of 295-315 for a 610 (+42), one stroke ahead of St. Thomas Aquinas who shot rounds of 299-312 for a 611 (+43). Indiana (Pa.) finished third overall with scores of 304-308 for a 612 (+44).

Pablo Quintero needed an extra hole but went on to earn medalist honors over St. Thomas Aquinas' Djaia Darrason, winning the playoff hole after posting rounds of 73-76 for a 149 (+7). Darrason shot rounds of 75-74 for his 149, but Quintero won the 10th hole playoff for MVP honors.

On Monday, Quintero posted 16 pars and two bogeys for a 73 while on Tuesday he had two birdies on the front nine and seven pars on the back. A double bogey on the 17th opened the door for Darrason, as he birdied the 18th to tie for the lead and force the playoff.

Noah Wallace tied for third place overall, shooting rounds of 74-76 for a 150 (+8), a stroke off the lead. He finished strong on Tuesday with birdies on the par four 15th and par five 18th to close out his round. He had a birdie on the par four eighth and an eagle on the par five 12th on Monday's first round.

Josh Freeman finished in a tie for ninth overall with rounds of 73-82 for a 155 (+13). He posted four birdies on Monday, but struggled out of the gates on Tuesday, finding himself eight over after the first four holes before battling the rest of the afternoon. He birdied the par five 12th on Tuesday.

Sacha Brown finished tied for 12th overall, shooting rounds of 75-81 for a 156 (+14). He also had four birdies in Monday's round and struggled out of the gates on Tuesday, going seven over in the first five holes before battling the rest of the round. He had seven pars on the back nine on Tuesday.

Blake Ramirez rounded out the Wildcats on the course this week, finishing in a tie for 36th overall with rounds of 79-87 for a 166 (+24). He finished with 16 pars in his two rounds.

The Wildcats have a busy Easter Weekend, traveling to Southern New Hampshire for the Penmen Spring Invitational on April 18 and then the NCAA DII Super Regional Preview hosted by Gannon on Monday, April 21.
