
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Denim Perkins has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row to end the regular season, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
The freshman from Dover helped the Wildcats clinch a playoff spot on the final day of the regular season by scoring 24 points to go with 13 assists and five rebounds in two games, all while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor, including 66.7 percent from deep.
Perkins scored 12 points at Caldwell, dishing out five assists while only committing two turnovers. He grabbed four rebounds while shooting 4-for-8 from the floor, 2-for-4 from deep. He then scored 12 more points against Goldey-Beacom, shooting 4-for-6 from the floor including 2-for-2 from deep. He also dished out eight assists with only two assists, adding four steals as well in the win.
For the season, Perkins is averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, a CACC leading 4.8 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
Manir Waller was named to the Weekly Honor Roll for the Wildcats after filling up the stat sheet in both games. He averaged 16.5 points, including 22 against Goldey-Beacom on Senior Night, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game. Waller also shot 59.1 percent from the floor last week, including, 57.1 percent from deep.
The Wildcats head to Dominican tonight to compete in the CACC Tournament First Round. The opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
