NEWARK, Del. - - Four Wildcats were voted All-Region as the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) announced its 2021 Men's Soccer All-Region Teams as voted on by the East Region's sports information directors.
For the second time in his career, Shawn Genus was voted First Team All-East Region while Carson Talboys joins him on the First Team. Freshmen Konstantinos Parisis and Richard Thompson earned spots on the men's soccer's Second Team.
Shawn Genus (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) finished the season leading the East Region with 21 goals and 48 points. His 21 goals and 48 points also rank second in all of NCAA DII, behind only Wisconsin-Parkside's Rade Novakovich who has 24 goals and 58 points. Six of his goals have gone as game-winners, ranking third in the country. Genus finished with three hat tricks on the year, including three goals in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinal against Felician. He had seven multi-goal games on the year as well.
Carson Talboys (Huntersville, N.C.) started all 21 games at centerback for the Wildcats and anchored a defense that allowed 0.98 goals per game on the season. He was also the target on all set pieces and corners, getting on the end for six goals and adding two assists for 14 points. He scored two goals off corners at Jefferson and added an assist in a 4-0 win. He also scored two goals off corners in the second half against Georgian Court. He was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year as well.
In his first season as a Wildcat, Konstantinos Parisis (Thessaloniki, Greece) started all 21 games in goal, playing all but 45 minutes in the season. He was the final stopping point for the Wildcats that ended the season with a 0.98 goals against average, and he finished with a .708 save percentage. He finished 10th in all of NCAA DII with eight shutouts on the year. He made a season high six saves in the NCAA Tournament Second Round game against Davis & Elkins and also made five stops at Dominican. He was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year as well.
Another first year Wildcat, Richard Thompson made a splash as an outside back for the defense. He finished second in the CACC with 10 assists, serving balls in from his rightback position and on corners. He started all 21 games on defense for the Wildcats and helped anchor a defense that allowed 0.98 goals per game on the season. He finished the year with two goals and 10 assists for 14 points. He scored goals at Millersville and against Holy Family, and provided a season high three assists at Caldwell.
Georgian Court's Louis Silva was voted the 2021 D2CCA Men's Soccer East Region Player of the Year after scoring 18 goals and adding 10 assists for 46 points for the Lions.
The First Team honorees will now be nominated for D2CCA All-American Honors which will be voted on and announced in early December.
