
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Two major award winners and three All-Conference selections highlights the Wilmington University men's soccer program on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-CACC Teams announced Tuesday, led by the CACC Player and Rookie of the Year honors.
Theo Faillon (Allinges, France) was voted the CACC Player of the Year while Michiharu Takanashi (Ota City, Japan) was voted the CACC Rookie of the Year by the league's head coaches. Faillon was also voted First Team All-CACC while Lenny Greifenberg (Sulingen, Germany) and Alex Tarway (Monrovia, Liberia) were named Second Team All-CACC.
It is the first time since 2019 the Wildcats feature the CACC Player of the Year and the first time ever that they have the CACC Player and Rookie of the Year in the same year. Theo Faillon is the fourth CACC Player of the Year in program history while Michiharu Takanashi is the fourth CACC Rookie of the Year and first since 2021.
Theo Faillon not only leads the CACC in scoring, but he is tied atop the NCAA Division II leaderboards with 23 goals on the year. He has 23 goals and five assists for 51 points, ranking third most in the NCAA DII. He has contributed at least one point in 17 of the 19 games this season, scoring a goal in 16 games. He has multi-goal games against Chestnut Hill, Holy Family, Bloomfield, Dominican, Bridgeport, and Goldey-Beacom, with his season high being three at Bridgeport. Five of his goals have gone as game-winners.
Michiharu Takanashi has also started all 19 games atop the formation for the Wildcats, ranking second on the team with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. He is tied for fifth in the CACC with his nine goals and is sixth overall with 21 points. Seven of his goals have come since October 16, scoring two goals at No. 6 Southern New Hampshire and two against Dominican in back-to-back matches. He had a goal and an assist against American International in the early part of the season. His goals against Jefferson and Southern New Hampshire went as game-winners.
Lenny Greifenberg has patrolled the defensive end of the midfield all season for the Wildcats, starting all 19 games this season. He scored the first goal of the season in the game against Adelphi and is seventh on the team with seven points, tying for the team lead with five assists. He had a season's best two assists in the win over Dominican.
Alex Tarway has come on strong down the stretch for the Wildcats, appearing in 14 games while making 12 starts in the midfield. He is fourth on the team with nine points, scoring two goals while tying for the team lead with five assists. He scored goals at Holy Family and against Dominican, scoring a season's best three points with a goal and an assist against Dominican. He also had two assists against Mercy.
Post's Felix Nassen was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row while Caldwell's netminder Justin Talbot was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year for earning the First Team All-CACC nod. Georgian Court's manager Dino Rasso was named the CACC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career while Bloomfield was voted the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.
The Wildcats head to CACC Regular Season Champion and five-time defending CACC Tournament Champion Post on Wednesday for the CACC Tournament Semifinals. The opening kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. in Waterbury, Connecticut.
