Bowling Moves into First Place After Going 5-0 in Traditional Matches at Wildcat Invite

NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Wilmington University bowling team went 5-0 and moved into first place after five traditional matches on Saturday, putting down 5,162 pins to end the two days with a 193.02 match average at its own Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational.

Four of the five matches saw the Wildcats bowl over 1,000, including the program's third best 1,081 in the days' first match against New Jersey City. The Wildcats also defeated Kutztown, 1,004-935, Felician, 987-878, Daemen, 1,078-952, and Caldwell, 1,012-961.

The Wildcats were led by Malia Stout who posted a personal best and the program's second best five-match score of 1,109 for a 221.80 average. She only trailed CC Riojas' 1,119 (223.80 average) at the 2019-20 Wildcat DII/DIII Invite.

Stout's 276 against New Jersey City is the second best individual match score in program history, only behind Sinoda Cook's perfect 300 score. Stout also posted scores of 225, 207, 201, and 200 to score her 1,109 and finish second overall at the tournament. She earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team for her second place finish. She was only 21 pins off the leader, Haley Youker from Mercyhurst.

KC Miller finished eighth on Saturday, bowling a five-math total of 1,041, the seventh best five-match score in program history. She had a day's high 234 against Kutztown while also posting scores of 221 and 211 on the day.

CC Riojas finished 11th in the tournament with a score of 1,029 (205.80 average). She had scores of 216, 215, and 207 along the way for her 1,029 total pinfall.

Desiree Dent finished right behind Riojas in 12th place, putting down 1,024 pins on the day for a 204.80 average. She had a day's high 234 while also bowling matches of 216 and 214.

Rachel Hirst placed 21st on Saturday, bowling a five-match total of 959 for a 191.80 average. She had a day's best 201 against Daemen in the team's fourth match of the day.

Daemen moved into second with a 4,999 total pinfall on Saturday and a 191.90 average between the two days. Mercyhurst is third with a 4,887 total pinfall on Saturday and a 190.74 average.

The Wildcats will look to keep the momentum into Sunday as Baker Bracket Play begins at Bowlerama.
