NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Wilmington University freshman bowler Genna Closs has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for her performance at the Griffin Baker Classic last weekend.
Closs and the Wildcats finished ninth out of 20 teams at the Griffin Baker Classic, defeating Coppin State in the positional round to close out the tournament.
Genna Closs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) led the Wildcats with an 18.44 frame average in the two-day Baker format tournament. Closs had an 8.85 first ball average and then backed that up with a 57.1 spare conversation rate, going 32-for-56 for the weekend. She finished with a team-leading 44 strikes in the tournament as well.
Caldwell's Rhianna Smith was named the CACC Bowler of the Week after finishing with a 20.57 frame average at the Griffin Baker Classic.
The Wildcats are off this weekend but will get back to action next weekend when they host the Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational at Bowlerama. The three-day tournament begins on Friday, February 17 in New Castle.
