KC Miller Earns All-Tournament Team as Bowling Goes 4-1 In Traditional Matches at Wildcat Invite

NEW CASTLE, Del. - - KC Miller bowled a 269 in the fifth match to jump into All-Tournament position and lead the Wilmington University bowling team to a 4-1 afternoon at the Wildcat DII-DIII Invite on Saturday at Bowlerama.

The Wildcats went 4-1 but dropped a spot in the standings to third after two days of competition. They had a total pinfall of 4,790 on Saturday and not have a two-day total of 9,288 for a 185.8 game average. Nationally No. 14 Mercyhurst is in first with a 9,385 two-day pinfall followed by Daemen in second with a 9,340 two-day pinfall.

Wilmington started the day with a 918-731 win against St. Thomas Aquinas and then had a 961-791 win against Bloomfield. The Wildcats had their best output in a 976-869 win over Chestnut Hill but then fell to No. 14 Mercyhurst in a close contest, 982-961. They finished the day with a 974-889 win over Molloy to have a chance to win the tournament on Sunday.

KC Miller jumped into fifth place with a tournament high 269 against Molloy. She also had a 248 against Chestnut Hill and finished with a 1,059 for a 211.80 average to finish fifth overall and earn All-Tournament. The 269 is the fifth best game for a Wildcat in program history.

The Wildcats had three student-athletes reach 1,000 pins on Saturday, as Desiree Dent finished seventh overall with a 1,023 (204.60 average). She opened the day with a 222 and followed it up with a 217 against Bloomfield and a 216 against Chestnut Hill.

Carolece Henry was the third Wildcat to reach 1,000 pins on Saturday, finishing right behind her teammate in eighth place overall with a 1,019 (203.80 average). She also had three games above 200, starting with a 209 against St. Thomas Aquinas. She had a day's high 218 against Bloomfield and added a 202 against Mercyhurst.

Sydney Jones finished 32nd overall with an 829 total pinfall. She had a pair of matches with a 190, first against St. Thomas Aquinas and then against Mercyhurst to help her 165.80 average.

Genna Closs bowled four matches and had a personal high of 197 against Molloy. She finished with a 697 in four matches, bowling a 174.25 average. Nicole Mitchell filled in against Chestnut Hill and bowled a 163 in that match.

Mercyhurst's Jenna Stretch won Tournament MVP honors with a 1,096, bowling all five games above 200 (219.20 average). Daemen's Caitlyn Nowak finished second with a 1,069 (213.80 average) followed by Mercyhurst's Sam Strebel with a 1,067 213.40 average), and Chestnut Hill's Maddie Gannon with a 1,066 (213.20 average).

The Wildcats will face Chestnut Hill in the first best of seven Baker Bracket match on Sunday. The Wildcats have a chance to play for the tournament championship with wins in their first two matches.
