
NEWARK, Del. - - A fast start allowed Post to lead wire-to-wire in a 103-42 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Wilmington University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.
The Eagles (5-17, 4-6 CACC) stormed out of the gates and scored 31 points in the first quarter, shooting 68.8 percent from the floor while hitting five three-pointers. The Wildcats (0-20, 0-9 CACC) were led by Aniyah Bond's 14 points, as she shot 4-for-13 from the floor while hitting 3-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc.
The Eagles were off and running with a pair of three pointers in the early going, jumping out to a 10-1 lead. Jasmine McDuffie converted a three-point play to make it 10-4, but then the Eagles rattled off the next nine points and 11-of-12 to take a 21-5 lead and never look back.
Post scored the final 14 points of the second quarter to take a 56-15 lead into the locker room, and then extended the run out to 16-0 with the first bucket of the third quarter for their longest stretch of the game.
Aniyah Bond scored 12 of her team-high 14 in the third quarter, shooting 4-of-6 form the floor while hitting 3-of-4 from deep. The third quarter was the most productive for the Wildcats, scoring 16 points while shooting 5-for-13 from the floor and 3-of-5 from the foul line. The Eagles won the third quarter, 19-16, and the fourth quarter, 28-11, to settle on the final score, 103-42.
Following Bond's 14 points was Armani Bell-Jackson with nine points off the bench. Emma Brown scored six points to go with six rebounds off the bench. Jasmine McDuffie scored five points and led the Wildcats with seven rebounds. Samiyah McFarlane scored four points while adding five rebounds, and three assists.
The Wildcats take to the road for their midweek game, heading to Georgian Cour on Wednesday night. The Wildcats and Lions are set to tip off at 6:00 p.m. in Lakewood, New Jersey.
