Women’s Lacrosse Predicted Best Ever Second in 2025 CACC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - In a vote among the head coaches, the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team was picked to finish second overall, earning 68 points in the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The second-place prediction is the highest ranking in program history, predicted as high as third in previous seasons. They made a return trip to the CACC Tournament Semifinals last year, winning a record-breaking 14 games while tying for second in the CACC standings with a 7-2 record. They were the No. 4 seed in the CACC Tournament after tiebreakers last year. They have reached the CACC Tournament Semifinals five seasons in a row.

Two-time defending champion Dominican took the top stop with nine first-place votes and 81 points overall. Following Wilmington's 68 points was Georgian Court in third place with 66 points. Jefferson took the final first-place vote and finished fourth overall with 61 points.

Bridgeport was picked to finish fifth with 47 points followed by Holy Family in sixth with 42 points, rounding out the predicted teams to make the 2025 CACC Tournament. Post (31 points), Chestnut Hill (19), Caldwell (18), and Felician (17) round out the rest of the Preseason Poll.

The Wildcats' season begins on Sunday, February 16 when they play St. Thomas Aquinas on the road. The Wildcats' first five games are on the road before welcoming Molloy to the WU Athletics Complex on Saturday, March 8 for the home-opener.

At season's end, the top six teams in the standings will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament. The opening round and the semifinals will take place on April 26 and April 29, respectively, at campus sites. Georgian Court will host the championship final on Sunday, May 4, on its Lakewood, N.J., campus. For the first time, the CACC champion will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship tournament.
