Manuela Restrepo, Evelyn Payne, and Malthe Hannesbo Named CACC Soccer Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The offense started clicking for the Wilmington University soccer teams last week, leading to three student-athletes earning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Leading the women's soccer team to a 2-0 week over Holy Family and Dominican, redshirt sophomore Manuela Restrepo was named the CACC Player of the Week while teammate Evelyn Payne was named the CACC Rookie of the Week. On the men's side, Malthe Hannesbo led his Wildcats to wins over Holy Family and Dominican as well, earning CACC Player of the Week honors.

Manuela Restrepo (Medellin, Colombia) led the Wildcats to a 2-0 week, scoring nine points with three goals and three assists. Against Holy Family, she scored the team's second goal, which ended up being the game winner in a 3-1 victory. She assisted on the final goal of the game as well. At Dominican, after trailing 1-0, she scored the first two goals for the Wildcats, assisted on what would be the game-winning third goal, and assisted on the fifth goal for six points in the game. She now leads the CACC with 20 pts, being tied for the lead with eight goals and ranking third in the CACC with four assists.

Evelyn Payne (Wilmington, Del.), a redshirt freshman, scored a goal in each game this week, helping the Wildcats to a 2-0 week. She scored the third goal of a 3-1 win against Holy Family, and then scored what would be the game-winning third goal in a 5-2 win at Dominican on Saturday. She now has three goals and an assist for seven points on the year.

Malthe Hannesbo (Stovring, Denmark) led the Wildcats to a 2-0 week, defeating Holy Family, 3-2, and Dominican, 5-2. He scored the game's first goal against Holy Family and then came back and scored twice while adding two assists at Dominican. Hannesbo scored the first and third goals for the Wildcats while assisting on the team's second and fourth goals against the Chargers. He had eight points in the week, jumping to 12th in the CACC overall with 10 points on the year.

Inside on the volleyball court, Wilmington sophomore Brice Hansen made her way onto the Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Wildcats to a 2-1 week inside the CACC.
