NEWARK, Del. - - For the first time in 12 years, the Wilmington University women's soccer team will play in the NCAA DII East Regional Tournament, hearing its name during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday night.

The Wildcats, ranked in the United Soccer Coaches and NCAA East Region Polls all season, waited with bated breath as the committee announced the East Region. The Wildcats were the seventh and final team announced in the bracket and will head to Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire, to take on the host and No. 2 seed Ravens in the First Round.

It is just the second time the Wildcats have earned a bid into the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament, joining the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Champion Wildcats in 2012. This is the first time in program history the Wildcats earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The 2012 squad traveled to American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, and played Saint Rose in the program's first ever NCAA Tournament game.

Franklin Pierce is riding a seven-game winning streak, winning the Northeast 10 Tournament Championships, 1-0, over Adelphi on Sunday to earn the conference's automatic qualification. The Ravens are 16-3-1 overall.

The Wildcats and Ravens will play on Friday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. opening whistle on Sodexo Field.
