PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - A clean sweep of the three doubles matches helped the Wilmington University women's tennis team defeat Holy Family, 7-2, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Thursday afternoon at the Union League Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats (3-2, 2-1 CACC) got off to a hot start in the doubles events, taking all three matches to jump out in front early. The team went on to take four of the singles matches as well, winning at second, third, fourth, and fifth singles to take the match, 7-2.

Begona Goamr and Laura Gil set the mark in the double matches, winning 8-2 at first doubles. Anushka Sathe and Milica Knezevic followed suite with an 8-3 victory at number two doubles before Lauren Kiger and Sabrina Blasi-Smith finished off the sweep with a 9-7 doubles victory at number three.

The success carried over into the singles events as Knezevic collected the largest victory with a 6-0 and 6-2 win at number five singles. Gil continued her strong play with a 6-2 and 6-1 victory at number three singles while Gomar finished off a 6-4 and 6-0 victory at number two singles. Blasi-Smith closed out the 7-2 victory at number four singles, beating her opponent with scores of 6-4 and 6-1.

The win puts the Wildcats over the .500 mark in both the CACC and overall for the season for the first time in program history. The win puts the Wildcats into third place in the CACC standings, trailing only Goldey-Beacom (2-0) and Post (2-0).

The Wildcats have another chance to make noise in the CACC on Saturday when they travel to Chestnut Hill. The Griffins were the 2015 CACC Tournament Runner-Ups. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on the campus of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia.
