PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match to USciences, 6-1, on Wednesday night at the Hamlin center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
Andrea Ribalta remained undefeated in singles play for the Wildcats (0-3, 0-2 CACC), moving to 3-0 on the year in dual matches with another win at number two singles. She defeated Stephanie Mazurek by like scores of 6-4 and 6-4.
Laura Gil had the 19th ranked player in the East Region on the ropes at number one singles, but Karla Miletic was able to come back from a set down to win in the third set tiebreaker. Gil took the first set, 6-1, but Miletic forced the tiebreaker with a second set score of 6-2. Miletic went on to win the tiebreaker, 10-7. With the win, Miletic became the Devils' all-time leader in singles victories with 43.
Myke Williams defeated Sabrina Blasi-Smith, 6-1 and 6-0, at number three singles while Diana Sosonkin defeated Mallory Nolte, 6-2 and 6-0, to round out the singles play.
The Devils (2-1, 2-0 CACC) won the doubles point as well, winning both matches.
The Wildcats remain at home for their next contest, as they host Dominican on Saturday in part of the 2019 Wilmington University Homecoming festivities. The match at the Delcastle Tennis Center is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
