Wildcats Move to 4-0 in CACC with 5-2 Victory at Jefferson

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - After Jefferson rallied to take a 2-1 lead, the Wilmington University tennis team recovered to win the final four singles matches to defeat the Rams, 5-2, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday afternoon at the Legacy Tennis Court.

The Wildcats remain undefeated in CACC play, moving to 4-0 so far in the regular season. Jefferson slips to 2-3 overall, 1-3 in CACC play.

Gloria Barcaro and Ińes Oliveira set the tone in doubles, winning at No. 2, 6-0. Molly Carlberg and Lyza Sylka followed with a 6-3 win at No.3. doubles to secure the point.

Jefferson came out and took matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to take a 2-1 lead in the match, but then the Wildcats regained control.

Kushi Khandoji started the rally with a win at No. 4 singles, 7-5 and 6-4, and then Lyza Sylka gave the Wildcats the lead with a win at No. 3 singles, 6-3 and 6-4. The clinching point came from Ming-Fu Chen at No. 5 singles, winning 7-5 and 7-5 to make it a 4-2 match. Gloria Barcaro finished off the CACC victory with a 6-3 and 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

The Wildcats have the weekend off and return to action on Tuesday, October 1 when they travel to Waterbury, Connecticut, to take on Post. The first serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
