NEWARK, Del. - - Mark Corrigan earned medalist honors and the women finished a program best second overall as the Wilmington University cross country teams competed at the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships on Sunday at White Clay Creek State Park.

It is the second straight year the Wildcats earned the medalist honors on the men's side (Ken Fontal in 2016), but the men finished fourth overall with 105 points. Rachel Jones and Gabrielle Brown led the women with top 10 finishes, giving them 115 points for second place overall. Corrian, Jones, and Brown were named All-CACC for finishing in the Top 15.

The men were up first on Sunday, and Corrigan wasted little time to announce his presence. He finished the race in 26:39.8, nearly 14 seconds ahead of the field. He is the fourth Wildcat to earn medalist honors at the CACC Championship in the program's NCAA era, joining Bill Steele (2010), Richie Mitten (2013), and Ken Fontal (2016).

Johnathan Avila was the second Wildcat to cross the line, finishing in 21^st overall with a time of 28:15.1. Jake Puharic and Miguel Suero finished back-to-back at 23^rd and 24^th, respectively, before Korey Jeffries finished off the scoring for the Wildcats in 36^th. Puharic ran in 28:28.8 while Suero completed the race in 28:31.8. Jeffries finished in 29:27.8.

Sean Scandle was also on the course for the Wildcats, placing 38^th overall in 29:31.7. Jayven Davis wrapped up the Wildcats on Sunday with an 83^rd place finish, finishing in 35:35.0.

The women finished in second place for the second time in the program's history, tying the mark set by the 2011 squad. The team finished sixth overall last season.

Jones led the Wildcats with a fifth place finish, crossing the line in 20:05.1, her best finish at the CACC Championships in her career. Gabrielle Brown finished ninth overall with a time of 20:27.4, also her best finish at the CACC Championships in her career.

Alexa Crowell was the third Wildcat to cross the line, finishing 30^th overall with a time of 21:55.7. Julia Merritt placed 34^th overall with a time of 22:05.2 while Nicole Brevoort wrapped up the Wildcats' scoring with a 37^th place finish in 22:18.6.

Emily Kockott placed 45^th overall with a time of 22:42.3 while Tara Langan wrapped up the Wildcats on the course with a 65^th place finish in 24:03.2.

Corrigan and the women's team will take their talents to the 2017 NCAA East Regional Championship hosted by Daemen College at the Delaware Park Golf Course in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, November 4.
