Keith Jones Named 2023 CACC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year; Men Earns Sportsmanship Award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For the seventh time in his career, Wilmington University cross country coach Keith Jones has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Coach of the Year, as announced by the conference office.

The Wildcats were also awarded with the 2023 CACC Men's Cross Country Rob Roman Memorial Team Sportsmanship Award, making it back-to-back years in which the men's team earned the sportsmanship award in a vote of the league's teams.

Keith Jones led the Wildcats to their seventh CACC Championship in October, beating the field of nine teams with 46 points. They out-ran Georgian Court who finished in second place with 52 points. They were ranked as high as No. 4 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Regional Rankings this season. Keith Jones has also earned the CACC Men's Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

It is the second consecutive year the men's team was chosen as the Rob Roman Memorial Team Sportsmanship Award recipient by their peers, and the second time in program history. Chestnut Hill earned the Anne Jackson Memorial team Sportsmanship Award on the women's side. The sportsmanship awards are named in honor of Anne Jackson (Nyack College) and Rob Roman (Post University), who were cross country runners at their respective institutions and passed away during their collegiate careers.
