NEW CASTLE, Del. - - For the second year in a row, the Wilmington University baseball team secured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division No. 1 seed, beating Jefferson, 11-5, on Tuesday afternoon at Wilson Field.

It is the sixth time in the NCAA era that the Wildcats have claimed the CACC Regular Season Championship, and the second year in a row now that the divisions have been implemented. The Wildcats earned the bye into the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament starting on Thursday, May 11 hosted by Post University.

The Wildcats (26-18) showed off their defense early with a Jefferson runner on second base. Jefferson attempted a hit-and-run play, but Maxwell was able to strike out the batter, and then Nick Classie threw the ball down to third basemen Tyler Pirrung to catch the runner stealing for the final out of the inning.

Then they showed off their power in the bottom of the first. With two outs and no one on, Jack McDonald worked a full count and then took a ball deep to right field for his eighth home run of the year. After Nick Nocella reached on an error, Eddie Parry took a ball to right field with a two-run homer that hit the scoreboard.

In the top of the second, the Rams fought back and scored two runs to cut the deficit to just one. Then, in the bottom of the third inning, with the top of the order up, Erik Grady and Tyler Pirrung recorded base hits. Jack McDonald loaded the bases as he earned a four-pitch walk. Nick Nocella picked up an RBI with a sac fly and then Eddie Parry stepped up and delivered another home run to right field for a three-run blast and a 7-2 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Wildcats loaded the bases with one out. Then, Nick Nocella hit the team's fourth home run with a grand slam to right center. The Wildcats were up 11-2 after four innings.

Kyle Maxwell earned his fifth win of the season, as he goes six innings and struck out five batters. Dom Grady came in the seventh and struck out two of the three batters he faced to close the game.

Eddie Parry went 2 -for-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Nick Nocella picked up five RBI as well.
