Wildcats Finish 7th Overall at Vegas Warrior Invite to Open Spring Season

HENDERSON, Nev. - - The Wilmington University golf team kicked off its 2025 spring season at the Vegas Warrior Invite hosted by Winona State University, finishing seventh overall after shooting rounds of 315 and 298 for a 613 (+53) at the Wildhorse Golf Club.

Winona State won the tournament with a 569 (+9) while Eastern Wyoming placed second with a 589 (+29). Hawaii-Hilo rounded out the Top 3 schools with a 590 (+30) for third place.

The Wildcats were led by freshman Noah Wallace, placing 14th overall. He went for a 75 (+5) on Friday and a 73 (+3) on Saturday, finishing with a 148 (+8). On Friday, Wallace had his lone birdie on the par five 17th. On Saturday, the freshman collected 15 pars and three bogeys for his team low 73. For the tournament, Wallace collected 26 pars in the two rounds.

Pablo Quintero finished 28th overall for the Wildcats, posting rounds of 76 (+6) and 78 (+8) for a 154 (+14). He had birdies on two of the three par fives on Friday and then had another birdie on the par four eighth on Saturday. He collected 21 pars in the two rounds.

Freshman Josh Freeman moved up 12 spots on Saturday to finish in a tie for 30th overall. After a first round score of 83 (+13), Freeman shot a 73 (+3) to tie for the Wildcats best round of the tournament with Wallace. He finished with a 156 (+16) for the tournament. Freeman had three birdies in the first round, but only six pars. On Saturday, he also had three birdies, but limited the mistakes, finishing with 10 pars.

Blake Ramirez moved up five spots on Saturday to finish in 39th overall. He posted scores of 85 (+15) and 74 (+4) to finish with a 159 (+19). He birdied the par four first on Friday to start the tournament, but then only collected four pars the rest of the way. On Saturday, he birdied the par four 10th and limited the mistakes as well, posting 13 pars for his 74 (+4).

Sacha Brown shot identical rounds of 81 (+11) for a 162 (+22), finishing in 43rd place. He had one birdie on Friday, sinking a birdie putt on the par five fifth. He had eight pars on Friday and nine pars on Saturday.

Playing as an individual, Ryan Heenan finished 53rd overall, shooting a 179 (+39). He had a birdie on the par five fifth hole on Saturday and had 10 pars in the two rounds.

Winona State's Peyton Coahran won the tournament with a 137 (-3), posting rounds of 69 (-1) and 68 (-2). Missouri Southern's Ben Marckmann and Winona State's Luke Maas were tied for second overall with scores of 138 (-2).

The Wildcats return East and will be on the course again on Monday, March 24, when they compete in the Vulcan Fire Classic in Washington, Pennsylvania. The two-day tournament hosted by California (Pa.) will be at Lone Pine CC.
