Taalib Holloman, Caleb Matthews, and Justin Thomas Named 2022 Team Captains

NEWARK, Del. - - Head coach Dan Burke announced that upper classmen Taalib Holloman, Caleb Matthews, and Justin Thomas have been named team captains for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

The trio will lead the Wildcats into the 2022-23 season after going 11-18 overall and 8-10 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play in 2021-22. The Wildcats earned the CACC South Division's number four seed into the CACC Tournament last season, the seventh CACC Tournament appearance in the Wildcats' NCAA era and fifth straight season (not counting the 2020-21 season in which they did not participate due to the COVID-19 shutdown).

Taalib Holloman, a junior in 2022-23, is in his fourth year with the program. He averaged 4.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game last year.

Caleb Matthews, a junior in 2022-23, redshirted in 2019-20 and then the team missed the 2020-21 season and is now in his fourth year with the program as well. He was fourth on the team last year in scoring 11.3 points per game while shooting 39.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc. He also averaged 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last year.

Justin Thomas, a senior in 2022-23, is now in his third season with the Wildcats. Thomas finished as the team's third leading scorer last year, finishing with 12.5 points a game last season. He also averaged 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game a season ago.

The Wildcats begin their season at the College of Staten Island's 2022 Tournament of Heroes on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12.
