Nalik Veasley Wins Third Straight CACC Defensive Player of the Week Award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The lane once again belongs to Wilmington University men's basketball big man Nalik Vealsey, as he has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third week in a row.

In the team's lone game last week, Nalik Veasley (Clayton, Del.) helped lead the Wildcats past Chestnut Hill, 76-69, in the CACC opener on Wednesday night.

Nalik Veasley again led the Wildcats on the boards, grabbing nine rebounds, six of which were on the defensive end. He also picked up three more blocked shots, the fifth game in a row with three blocked shots. Veasley added two steals and eight points as well against the Griffins.

Veasley leads the CACC in grabbing 9.6 rebounds per game while ranking second overall with 17 blocked shots on the season.

Amiri Stewart was mentioned on the Weekly Honor Roll after scoring 14 points while adding three steals and two blocks off the bench in the win over the Griffins.

In the three weeks that Nalik Veasley has been named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week, he has averaged 8.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game while the team has gone 3-2 overall.

Caldwell's Darnell Evans was named the CACC Player of the Week after scoring 38 points against Felician while Chestnut Hill's Argel Pettit IVV was named the Rookie of the Week this week.
