
NEWARK, Del. - - Jasmine McDuffie scored a team high 14 points but Jefferson took a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division contest, 85-47, over the Wilmington University women's basketball team on Tuesday night inside the WU Athletics Complex.
The Rams (9-5, 3-2 CACC) led wire-to-wire in the game and benefitted from 28 Wilmington (0-15, 0-4 CACC) turnovers, turning them into 33 points at the other end. The Wildcats won the fourth quarter, 20-13, going 7-of-19 from the floor and making all four from the foul line in the frame.
The Rams jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Jasmine McDuffie put in an offensive rebound to put the Wildcats on the board. Aniyah Bond and McDuffie hit back-to-back three-pointers to bring the Wildcats to within 25-11 but the Rams scored the final two points from the foul line and went into the second quarter leading 27-11.
The Rams came out in the second quarter and scored the first 12 points, making it a 14-0 run to take a 39-11 lead and never looked back. Another 21-0 run in the third quarter gave the Rams a 64-22 lead.
Emma Brown scored six points in the fourth quarter, going 3-for-3 from the floor and adding three rebounds. Jasmine McDuffie and Mya Nisbet hit three-pointers in the frame as the Wildcats went on to win the fourth, 20-13.
Jasmine McDuffie led the team with 14 points while making three three-pointers, adding five rebounds and a block. Emma Brown finished with nine points and a game-high eight rebounds. Armani Bell-Jackson scored seven points to go with four rebounds as well. Daja Claiborne and TyKeisha Hill had five rebounds each in the loss.
The Wildcats travel to Dominican on Saturday afternoon, crossing over to battle the leaders of the North Division. The women tip-off at 1:00 p.m. in Orangeburg, New York.
