Six Wildcat Standouts Named to CSC Academic Men’s At-Large All-District Team

NEWARK, Del. - - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2024 Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, and six Wilmington University student-athletes were recognized as some of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Men's Lacrosse's Jimmy Cava, Matt Kracyla, Carnell Lofton Jr., Gunner Settar, and Logan Stinson, as well as Golf's Jan Lekes represent the Wildcats on the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team. The Wildcats are six of the 30 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference representatives on the All-District Team.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District nomination, the student-athlete must excel in both the field of play and the classroom. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, AND compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the games, along with several other criteria.

Jimmy Cava had a comeback year on the field for the Wildcats, appearing in 14 games while making three starts after missing all of 2023. He collected 14 goals to go with nine assists for 23 points this season, adding 15 ground balls. He is going for his mid level education degree, carrying a 3.82 grade point average.

Matt Kracyla was an All-Region and All-CACC performer for the Wildcats this season as a short stick defensive midfielder. He appeared in all 15 games while scoring two goals and adding an assist in transition. He finished with 28 ground balls and seven caused turnovers as well. He is studying for his health sciences degree, carrying a 3.90 GPA.

Carnell Lofton Jr. was a Second Team All-CACC face-off specialist for the Wildcats this year, going 150-for-259 (.579) from the spot. His .579 winning percentage ranked second in the CACC this season while his 73 ground balls were tied for sixth as well. He graduated with a 3.95 undergraduate grade point average and is currently a 4.00 graduate student while studying for his MBA.

Gunner Settar started in 11 of the 12 games he played before suffering a season ending injury. The long-pole defender had 11 caused turnovers and added 27 ground balls on the defensive end, adding two assists on the attack as well. He is working towards his health sciences degree with a 3.71 GPA.

Logan Stinson was the CACC Player of the Year and an honorable mention All-American for the Wildcats, setting program records with 63 goals and 79 points this season. He started all 15 games atop the formation for the Wildcats while working towards his graduate degree with a 3.67 GPA. He graduated with a business management degree with a 3.80 grade point average earlier in his career as well.

Jan Lekes appeared in nine tournaments in 2023-24 for the Wildcats, competing in 23 rounds. He finished 22nd overall in the CACC Championship with a 231 (+18) and ranks #79 in the East Region according to clippd.com. He had an adjusted scoring average of 80.9 for the season, shooting a season best even par in the third round of the Vulcan Invitational in September. He has an impressive 4.00 grade point average while studying biology at Wilmington.

The CSC Academic All-America Teams will be announced on Wednesday, July 17.
