WATERBURY, Conn. - - Playing in its first dual match of the 2019 season, the Wilmington University women's tennis team lost to Post, 5-2, on the road in both team's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference 2019 debut.

The Eagles (3-2, 1-0 CACC) earned the doubles point by taking both matches at number one and two with narrow victories. Andrea Ribalta and Sabrina Blasi-Smith dropped the match at number one doubles, 6-4, while Laura Gil and Mallory Nolte lost, 6-3, at number two doubles.

But Ribalta and Gil would get the Wildcats (0-1, 0-1 CACC) on the board as singles play started, winning their matches at number one and two, respectively.

Ribalta came out and took both sets at number one singles, defeating Andrea Sandoval, 6-3 and 6-1, for the Wildcats' first point. Laura Gil followed with a win at number two singles, defeating Areej Fareh with scores of 6-1 and 6-3. But it was too little too late for the Wildcats, as the match had already been decided with Post's five points.

The Wildcats get right back to action on Sunday, as they make a pit stop in the Bronx to take on Queens in a nonconference matchup. The first serve against the Knights is set for 1:00 p.m.
