Wildcats Sweep Singles Matches to Stay Unbeaten with 7-0 Win at Post

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team swept all six singles matches to stay unbeaten in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play, sweeping Post, 7-0, on Tuesday at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis.

The Wildcats move to 5-0 on the year, all matches have been CACC matches as well, staying atop the league standings.

Inés Oliveira and Gloria Barcaro gave the Wildcats the advantage in doubles with the first win, 6-1, at No. 2. Post was able to even the doubles matches with a win at No. 1, 6-3, but Molly Carlberg and Liza Sylka gave the Wildcats the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 3.

Gloria Barcaro remained unbeaten in singles play with her second win at No. 5 this season, 6-0 and 6-0, to make it 2-0. Kushi Khandoji also bageled her opponent at No. 3 singles to remain unbeaten in singles play this year, giving the Wildcats a 3-0 lead, 6-0 and 6-0. Liza Sylka secured the match for the Wildcats with a win at No. 2 singles, 6-3 and 6-2.

The winning continued for the Wildcats as Ming-Fu Chen won at No. 4 singles, 6-4 and 6-4, then then Siana MacDonald got her first win at No. 1, 7-5 and 7-5. Inés Oliveira closed out the sweep with a win at No. 6, 6-2 and 6-1.

The Wildcats begin a stretch of four straight matches at the Delcastle Tennis Center despite being the visitors in their next match. They will play Goldey-Beacom on Saturday and then have three straight home games next week. The match against the Lightning is set for a 12:00 p.m. first serve.
