NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A 3-0 week, including a pair of wins over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foes with better records, lands two Wilmington University volleyball student-athletes on the CACC Player of the Week Report, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Heather Pedrick (High Springs, Florida) was an all-around force for the Wildcats, leading the team offensively on her way to being named the CACC Player of the Week. Elly Collins (Tarpon Springs, Florida) roamed the back row and led the team defensively on her way to being named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Heather Pedrick finished with double-doubles in all three matches, putting down 50 kills (3.85 per set) while picking up 59 digs (4.54 per set). She also led the team with seven aces and was third on the team with 10 blocks. She had 16 kills, 17 digs, four blocks, and three aces in the week's first match against Jefferson. She hit .256 with only six errors, finishing with a week's high 22 points. She picked up 15 kills against Pace while adding 14 digs and then finished her week with 19 kills, 28 digs, three aces, and three block assists in a five-set victory against Bloomfield.
Elly Collins captained the back row for the Wildcats, finishing the week with 59 digs, averaging 4.54 per set. She had a week's high 22 digs on Tuesday against Jefferson and then came back with 18 digs against Pace. She finished the week with 19 digs against Bloomfield. She also tallied four aces for the week and only had three reception errors in 45 chances last week, good enough for a .933 passing percentage. Collins is currently second in the CACC with 4.62 digs per set.
Richard Thompson was mentioned on the Men's Soccer Weekly Report as well, appearing on the Weekly Honor Roll after scoring a goal against Georgian Court in a 1-0-1 week.
