CACC North Division Leading Post Sweeps Volleyball, 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn. - - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division leading Post Eagles defeated the Wilmington University volleyball team, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon inside the Drubner Center.

Set scores for the match were 25-12, 25-17, and 25-13.

The Eagles (12-8, 7-1 CACC) hit .365 as a team to go with 10 aces and six total blocks. The Wildcats (11-1, 6-3 CACC) hit .106 as a team while the CACC leaders in blocks only had one total block on Saturday.

Post turned a 13-8 lead into a set point, 24-12, with a 11-3 run, including spurts of 5-0 and 4-0.  

Leading 15-13 in the second set, the Eagles pulled away with a 6-0 run to take a 21-13 lead. Back-to-back point gave the hosts set point, 24-15, before the Wildcats saved two set points. But the Eagles put the Wildcats away with a kill, 25-17.

The eagles raced out to a large lead in the third set, scoring four straight points at the end of the run to take a 13-4 advantage. A 5-1 Wildcat run brough the visitors to within 14-9, but then the Eagles answered with a 6-1 run of their own to open a 20-10 lead. They finished the match with a 5-1 run again, scoring the final two points to seal the deal, 25-13.

Karla Nunez-Rivera and Eliza Schneider led the Wildcats with eight kills each while Nunez-Rivera added seven digs. Karalyn Osborne passed out 12 assists and added five digs while Claudia Melendez chipped in with 10 assists and seven digs. Haley Holland added seven digs as well for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Lakewood, New Jersey for a CACC South Division matchup with Georgian Court. The first serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
