Shawn Haut Named CACC Rookie of the Week Following Collegiate Debut

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Competing in his first collegiate ballgames last week, Wilmington University freshman Shaw Haut earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Baseball Rookie of the Week award after helping the team to a 3-0 start.

Shawn Haut's (New Castle, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) first career hit came in his second at-bat, as he hit a bases clearing three-run double to give the Wildcats the lead in game one against USciences.

The third baseman then went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored in the opener of Saturday's doubleheader. He ended the week by going 2-for-3 with another double and a run scored in the nightcap against the Devils.

He finished the week batting 6-for-9 (.667) with four doubled and five RBI. He also scored four times and stole two bases in the week.

Teammate Nic Hertzfeld was mentioned on the Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats with two homers and six RBI. Softball's Lauren Lopez was also mentioned on the Weekly Honor Roll after backing 8-for-14 with 12 RBI in four games, breaking the program's career RBI mark along the way.

Softball's doubleheader against Caldwell has been moved up to Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Asbury Field while the baseball team travels to Mercy on Wednesday and hosts Felician in a CACC doubleheader on Thursday.
