NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The red-hot and 21st ranked Marauders of Millersville University defeated the Wilmington University baseball team, 13-3, on Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Field.

Millersville (20-5) used two crooked innings to open the scoring as the Wildcats couldn't keep up in the nonconference game.

Pitchers Kyle Maxwell Rich Albrecht, and Xander Emberger all tossed scoreless frames through the first three innings but the offense was quiet as well, leaving two on base in the first. Millersville came around and struck in the fourth.

The Marauders loaded the bases without recording an out, and then back-to-back doubles cleared the bags and the visitors were up 4-0.

Shawn Haut and JJ Killen answered with back-to-back two-out doubles in the bottom of the fourth, but that's all they would get.

Millersville homered in the fifth and then hit a two-run homer two batters into the sixth to take a 7-1 lead. They loaded the bases once more in the sixth and a two-run single and an error plated three more and Millersville was leading 10-1 after the sixth.

The Marauders tacked on two more in the top of the seventh and one in the ninth while the Wildcats got an RBI single in from Shawn Haut in the sixth, and a sacrifice fly from John Mead in the eighth.

Erik Grady and Shawn Haut led the wildcats with two hits each. Shawn Haut and JJ Killen had doubles and single RBI in the game as well.

The Wildcats will look to get back into the winner's column next week, as they head to Nyack for a doubleheader on Monday. The games will be played at Palisades Credit Union Park, home of the New York Boulders in Pomona, New York.
