NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Wilmington University baseball team's bats stayed hot as the Wildcats extended their winning streak to eight games in a row with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference sweep against North Division Bloomfield, 16-2 and 15-5, Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Field.

GAME 1:

Matt Warrington pitched a complete game gem on the mound for the Wildcats. Warrington had 12 strikeouts, gave up four hits, one earned run, and only walked one as he controlled the game the whole way through.

The Wildcats' bats stayed hot as they did not waste time getting on the scoreboard. Hertzfeld took the first pitch he saw to center field, and Jack McDonald sacrificed him over. Then Nick Nocella, batting in the three spot, doubled to right center, scoring Hertzfeld to tie the game, 1-1. Next, Shawn Haut picked up two RBI with a double to left center, and JJ Killen singled through the left side to earn another RBI. The Wildcats were up 4-1 after one complete inning.

The Wildcats tacked on three more runs in the second inning. Eddie Parry stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded. Parry took advantage with a single to center field, scoring Hertzfeld. Erik Grady picked up an RBI after a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Nocella.

The Wildcats put the game out of reach in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs. It was highlighted by a two-RBI single by Nick Classie that scored Adrian Jimenez and JJ Killen

The Wildcats closed out game one 16-2 in a seven-inning game. Nic Hertzfeld went 3-for-4 with three runs scored while Nick Classie led with three RBI.

GAME 2:

Kyle Maxwell improved his record to 3-1, picking up the win in a five-inning outing. Maxwell only gave up three hits, three earned runs, and six strikeouts. The Wildcats also had one strikeout from the bullpen from Tyler Brown, bringing their strikeout total to 19 strikeouts for the Wildcat pitchers in the doubleheader.

The Wildcats caused havoc early yet again, scoring nine runs in the first two innings, five in the first and four in the second. First, Nic Hertzfeld and Jack McDonald got on base and quickly advanced to second and third base. Then, Nick Nocella doubled down the left-field line and scored Hertzfeld and Nocella. JJ Killen picked up two RBIs in the inning with a single up the middle that scored Shawn Haut and Eddie Parry, as they displayed great base running.

Jack McDonald has now homered in the Wildcat's last four outings, as McDonald took the ball over the high fence in center field. McDonald's homerun was a two-run shot as Hertzfeld was on the bases. JJ Killen and Erik Grady earned RBIs as they hit the ball far enough to a sacrifice fly RBI.

JJ Killen picked up two more RBIs in the fourth with a double down the left-field line, which scored Nocella and McDonald. A triple highlighted the bottom of the sixth inning as Trevor Adamo blasted a ball to center field, which cleared the bases for the Wildcats, as Adamo picked up three RBIs on the hit.

Nick Nocella, Nic Hertzfeld, and JJ Killen had three hits on the day. Between the two games, Killen had a six RBI day.
