Tyler Cleaves and Matthew Pulgini Named All-CACC Golfers

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A pair of Wilmington University golfers worked their way on to the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Conference Team, as announced by the conference office last week in accordance with the final Golfstat rankings of the regular season.

Wilmington juniors Tyler Cleaves and Matthew Pulgini make return trips to the All-Conference Team, as they again led the Wildcats on the course.

Tyler Cleaves went into the NCAA DII Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament ranked No. 7 in the Region according to Golfstat Rank. In 31 tournaments this year, Cleaves had an average score of 75.32 which was 3.74 against the par. He posted two scores in the 60's this year, including a season low 68 (-3) at the Vulcan Invitational to start the year. He also had a 69 (-3) at the Spartan Shootout late in the season. His best finish this year came at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship, finishing second overall with rounds of 74-71-74 for a 219 (+6). Cleaves collected five Top 10 finishes this season.

Matthew Pulgini went into the Super Regional Tournament ranked No. 24 in the Region according to Golfstat Rank. In 27 rounds this season, he shot an average of 74.96 per round, going 3.37 against the par. His season low round came at the Vulcan Invitational to start the season, shooting a 71 (E) even par round to open the tournament. He's posted two Top 10 finishes this season, finishing tied for fifth overall at the Penmen Fall Invitational with a 146 (+2) and tied for eighth at the Spartan Shootout with a 50 (+6).

Post's Bill Koch was named the CACC Golfer of the Year while his coach Steve Sokol was voted the CACC Coach of the Year. Felician's Pablo Hidalgo, who earned an at-large bid as an individual into the Super Regional, was named the CACC Rookie of the Year.
