NEW HAVEN, Conn – Nineteen (19) student-athletes on Thursday were named to the 2023-24 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. All seven CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution (at least a sophomore both athletically and academically).
The Wilmington University golf team placed three student-athletes on the postseason academic team, led by a pair of three-time honorees in Jan Lekes and Matthew Pulgini. Lekes is the lone student-athlete among the 19 total that carry a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Pablo Quintero made an appearance on the team for the second straight season as well.
Post University, which finished runner-up at the conference championship tournament back in the fall, led the way with five honorees, while CACC champ Goldey-Beacom College followed with four student-athletes earning a spot on the list.
NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM:
- Wilmington University's Jan Lekes was the lone student-athlete on the list to earn a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
- Seven student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
- GBC's Hunter McGee earned the honor for the fourth time in his career.
- Dominican University's Alexander Lundvall and WilmU's Matthew Pulgini and Lekes were named to the team for the third time.
- Seven were named to the unit for the second time in their respective careers.
