NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The defending regular season champion Wilmington University men's lacrosse team was picked to finish second overall as the conference office announced the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday.
The Wildcats reached the CACC Tournament Championship game for the third time in their short history, finishing 11-4 overall while going undefeated in CACC play, 8-0, last season. They have reached the CACC postseason in all six years of existence.
This year, the Wildcats picked up a first-place vote and earned 56 points to take second place. They only trail defending champion Chestnut Hill who earned five first-place votes and 61 total points to sit atop the poll. Georgian Court earned the other three first-place votes and 54 total points for third place.
Bridgeport (43 points) and Post (33 points) are the final two teams expected to make the CACC Tournament while Dominican (26), Caldwell (21), Felician (20), and Holy Family (10) round out the preseason poll.
The Wildcats' 2025 season begins on Wednesday, February 12 when they travel to North Carolina for a pair of games. They start with Chowan before heading to Barton on February 15. The team's first home game is scheduled for March 1 against Pace.
At season's end, the top five teams in the standings will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament. The No.5 seed will travel to the No. 4 seed in opening-round action on Monday, April 28. The semifinals will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at campus sites, and Dominican will host the championship final on Saturday, May 3, at O'Brien Field on its Orangeburg, N.Y., campus. For the first time, the CACC champion will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament.
