WEST CHESTER, Pa. - - For the third game in a row to start the 2018 season, the Wilmington University men's soccer team had to go longer than the 90-minute regulation period to get a result, and for the second match in a row that result was a tie, 0-0, at West Chester on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wildcats (1-0-2) dominated the stat sheet, leading the Golden Rams (1-1-1), 18-5, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Wildcats also earned more corners, 7-2, than the Golden Rams.

Newcomer Will Stone had the best opportunities for the Wildcats, hitting the post twice late in the game. He nearly had the game-winner in regulation with a shot, but his attempt in the 82nd hit the post, bounced right back to him, and his rebound attempt was saved by West Chester's James Wood.

Stone also had a chance in the second overtime period, but his header off a corner in the 108th minute hit the post and stayed out of the net. The Wildcats would not get another shot off in the match.

Will Stone led the Wildcats with five shots and three shots on goal while Tom Garratt posted four shots and two shots on goal. Davion Wedderburn also put up three shots and two shots on goal in the game.

Vinny Tasca recorded one save for the shutout.

The Wildcats open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with their next contest, as they head to Caldwell on Saturday for an afternoon game. They are the second of a CACC doubleheader, scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
