Carson Talboys and Shawn Genus Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 Team

NEWARK, Del. - - Getting it done on the field and in the classroom, Wilmington University men's soccer's Carson Talboys and Shawn Genus have been voted to the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 Team, as voted on by the East Region's sports information directors.

The 2021 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

Heading into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Semifinals, Shawn Genus (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) leads the CACC with 20 goals and is tied for the lead with 46 points. He has three hat tricks on the year and four other games where he's scored two goals. He was named to the All-CACC First Team for his efforts as well. In the classroom, he is carrying a 3.63 cumulative grade point average as a senior studying for his Sports Management degree.

Carson Talboys (Huntersville, N.C.) was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year and was a First Team All-CACC selection after leading the Wildcats back line. The centerback has helped the defense to a 0.77 goals against average heading into the CACC Tournament Semifinal. He is also tied for third on the team with 14 points, scoring six goals while adding two assists. In the classroom, he graduated from Catawba with a 3.52 cumulative grade point average and currently has a 3.84 grade point average in his master's program at Wilmington, studying for his MS in Accounting.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 Team is automatically nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American Teams, which will be voted on by NCAA Division II sports information directors country-wide. The Academic All-America Teams will be announced in early December.
