Shawn Genus Named Men’s Soccer All-American by D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches

NEWARK, Del. - - Shawn Genus becomes the first Wilmington University men's soccer student-athlete to earn All-American status in two different seasons, being named a First Team Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-American and a Second Team United Soccer Coaches All-American.

The senior becomes the 16th All-American in program history, but the first to earn the honor in two different seasons after being a Second Team D2CCA All-American in 2019.

Shawn Genus (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) finished the season leading the East Region with 21 goals and 48 points. His 21 goals and 48 points also rank second in all of NCAA DII, behind only Wisconsin-Parkside's Rade Novakovich who has 24 goals and 58 points. Six of his goals have gone as game-winners, ranking third in the country. Genus finished with three hat tricks on the year, including three goals in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinal against Felician. He had seven multi-goal games on the year as well.

In his two-year career as a Wildcats, Genus scored 32 goals and added 18 assists for 82 points. Seven of his goals were game-winners while he converted on 5-of-6 of his penalty opportunities. His 32 goals rank third all-time in program history while his 18 assists rank sixth most. His 82 career points move him into third place all-time in program history. Genus' 21 goals this season are tied for second most in a single season in program history while his 48 points are third most in a single season.
