Carson Talboys Signs Professional Contract with USL League One’s Charlotte Independence

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year Carson Talboys has signed a professional contract with his hometown team the Charlotte Independence of the United Soccer League.

Carson Talboys spent one memorable season with the Wilmington University men's soccer team, leading the defensive unit to the 2022 CACC Regular Season Championship and the right to host a NCAA Division II Super Region 1 Second Round game for the first time in program history.

As a central defender, Talboys scored six goals and added two assists on his way to being voted the CACC Defensive Plyer of the Year, First Team All-CACC, First Team D2CCA All-Region, Second Team United Soccer Coaches All-East Region, and even got in done in the classroom by being voted a Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-American.

The Charlotte Independence compete in the USL League 1 and are currently third overall with a 2-1-2 record for five points. The USL League One is the third tier of the United States Soccer System.
