Miles Dean enters his ninth season as an assistant coach of the men’s soccer program. He played his collegiate career at the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg (currently University of South Carolina-Upstate), where he was a member of the soccer team for four seasons.

While at Spartanburg, Miles helped the Spartans win four straight Peach Belt Conference titles, earning berths in the NCAA Division II Tournament each season. Dean also helped lead the Spartans to the 1995 Division II National Championship game. Miles led the Spartans in scoring three of his four years, finishing with 50 goals and 116 points for his career. Dean is in the Spartans “top ten” for career points and goals scored, prior to Upstate jumping up to NCAA Division I in 2007.

A native of Newark, Del., Dean continued his soccer career in the professional ranks in 1997 when he joined the Delaware Wizards. After a brief stint with the Wizards, Dean turned his attention to coaching. In 2004, Dean helped lead Tatnall High School to a Delaware High School Soccer State Championship. He coached the Delaware United Blizzard FC to state championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012.  The team was the champion of the prestigious Disney College Showcase in 2011.

Dean earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from USC-Spartanburg.  He holds a Master’s degree in Education from Wilmington University. Dean is currently the Dean of Career and Continuing Education at Cecil College in North East, Maryland.
