During his time at DMA, Freeland helped develop the Seahawks into one of the top programs in the state, reaching the state semi-finals in 2017, 2019, and again in 2021.

The 2019 Seahawks team, with four first-team all-state honorees and a total of six receiving all-state recognition, posted an undefeated 18-0 regular season and finished the year 20-1.

From 2017-2022 the Seahawks, including playoffs, posted a .810 winning percentage with a record of 81- 19.

While with the Delaware Cobras, during the summer of 2018, the 18U team posted a record of 30-7 and finished the summer by winning the 18U Eastern Regional Championship in Sterling, Va. All 12 members of that team went on to play at the collegiate level, eight with D1, three with D2 and one with D3.

Freeland began his coaching career as a baseball coach at Canal Little League and also volunteered time umpiring and as a league officer. He helped coach a majors team to a league title and was an assistant coach on three all-star teams, two of which won district titles. Freeland also spent three years as an assistant coach for travel baseball. During this time he also spent two years at Canal volunteering as a softball coach before getting involved with the Delaware Cobras.

Freeland has two children Tommy and Samantha. Tommy is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Hodgson Vo-Tech and also at Post #1 with American Legion. He was an All-State catcher while at St Mark’s and was a member of the 2013 State Championship team and 2014 State Finalist team. He also played at Wilmington University and was a member of the 2015 Wildcat team that played in the DII College World Series in Cary, North Carolina.

Samantha is currently in her senior year at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and is set to graduate with a BS in Biology in May 2023. She has been a three-year starter at second base and centerfield for the Red Foxes, who play in the MAAC conference.
