NEWARK, Del. – The Wilmington University women's basketball team could not hold on to No. 9 Regionally ranked Daemen as they defeated Wilmington, 83-51 in a nonconference matchup at the WU Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats (0-6) would score the first two points of the game thanks to two free throws from Jadyn Whitsitt on an administrative technical before the start of the contest, but Daemen (5-1) would start out hot scoring the first 13 points after tip-off holding the Wildcats to their first bucket of the contest with 5:41 left in the first quarter. Tiffany Jackson would put the score within seven, but the Wildcats from Daemen would end the quarter on an 8-3 run, leading 21-9.

WilmU would come within 10 on their first shot of the second quarter from Kasha Andrews, but Daemen would maintain that lead, making seven straight shots to jump out to a 36-13 lead, before taking a 43-33 lead into halftime.

Daemen would continue their hot shooting, making five consecutive three pointers to open up the second half, to lead 58-29 with 5:22 left in the third quarter. A Kiara Eubanks layup would put the Wildcats down, 60-36 heading into a timeout, but Daemen would go on a 12-0 run heading into the final quarter.

The Daemen Wildcats would jump out to their largest lead of the contest at 40 with 8:27 left in regulation, but Wilmington would outscore them in the quarter, 15-11.

Daemen shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the contest, while making 13 three pointers. The Wildcats' 24 turnovers in the game led Daemen to 25 points.

Jadyn Whitsitt had a team-high 13 points and three assists for WilmU, as Tiffany Jackson added 12 points and seven rebounds. Kiara Eubanks made four steals, while adding seven points off the bench.

Wilmington will head into the Thanksgiving break, before coming back to the court on December 3 for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at Jefferson. Tip-of is set for 6:00 p.m.
