Sinoda Cook Bowls Perfect Game As Wilmington Bowling Goes 2-3 at Bud Whitman Memorial

SINKING SPRINGS, Pa. - - Sophomore Sinoda Cook highlighted the Wilmington University women's bowling afternoon by spinning a perfect game as the Wildcats went 2-3 in traditional matches to wrap up the Bud Whitman Memorial on Sunday hosted by Kutztown University.

Cook (Linden, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) spun the perfect game (12 strikes, 300 pins in 10 frames) against Coppin State in her first traditional match of the day. It was her first perfect game of her bowling career and the first 300-game in program history for the Wildcats. She also bowled the second highest game in program history with a 256 against Adelphi in the next match.

The Wildcats started the afternoon with a 903-785 victory over the No. 15 ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association DII/DIII Preseason Poll Chestnut Hill, led by Bailey Peters' team high 196.

The team lost to nationally No. 9 Felician, 907-816, in their second match before coming back to top Coppin State, 943-776, in the third match, highlighted by Cook's 300. The 943 total pins set a new program record for a single match for the Wildcats.

The afternoon ended with a pair of losses to nationally No. 4 Adelphi, 1018-925, and narrowly to nationally No. 5 Franklin Pierce, 872-862. Peter's bowled a 214 against Adelphi while Malia Stout spun a 206 in the nightcap against Franklin Pierce.

The Wildcats finished 11th out of 19 teams in traditional matches on Sunday, knocking down 4,449 total pins, averaging 178 per match.

Individually, Stout led the Wildcats in knocking down 890 pins on the afternoon, finishing 42nd overall. Peters finished with 883 total pins, finishing 45th overall with a 176.6 five-match average. Leah Henry knocked down 810 pins on Sunday, finishing in 54th overall with a 162 average.

Cook led the Wildcats with a 233.3 game average, but only competed in three matches, knocking down 700 pins to finish 65th overall. Rachel Hirst appeared in four match and finished with 640 pins down, ranking 69th overall with a 160 four-match average. Clare Chaffer rounded out the Wildcats in action on Sunday by ranking 78th overall with 526 total pins, competing in three matches with a 175.4 average.

The Wildcats have a couple weeks off before returning to action on November 3 at the FDU Jamboree. Hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University, the three-day tournament will take place in Stratford, N.J.
