
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. - - Wilmington University women's bowling freshman Jocelyn Hood was named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week on Wednesday, heading into the ECC Championship this weekend with her first weekly award.
Competing in the regular season finale on her home court, Jocelyn Hood (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) helped lead the Wildcats to a third place finish at the Northeast Region Season Ender at Bowlerama.
The freshman finished in 18th place in traditional format matches with a 181.0 average. She also led the ECC with a 20.55 Baker frame average last week. Hood finished fourth overall with a 19.66 overall frame average and second with a 51.3 strike percentage as well at the tournament.
In traditional matches, Hood finished strong with her best match in the third and final match against Norfolk State. She bowled a 196 in the contest, adding to her 178 and 169 for the afternoon to complete her 181.0 average in three matches.
The Wildcats head into the ECC Championship this season, competing in the postseason for the second time. Friday begins Baker Format Pool Play in the ECC Championships, hosted at Kutztown's Heister Lanes in Reading, Pa.
