Bowling Finishes 2023-24 Regular Season With 11th Place Finish at Northeast Region Roundup

NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Wilmington University bowling team went 4-1 on Sunday, defeating Caldwell, 4-0, to finish 11th overall in Northeast Region Roundup in the 2023-24 regular season finale at Bowlerama.

On the final day of the regular season, the Wildcats started out with a bang, defeating nationally ranked No. 24 Delaware State, 974-973, to start Baker play. They dropped their only match of the day to Mercyhurst, 867-799, but then rebounds with wins over Kutztown, 882-870, and Molloy, 985-883.

The team qualified 11th with their total pinfall in the nine combined matches from Saturday and Sunday and squared off against CACC foe Caldwell in the positional round. In what could be a matchup next weekend in the CACC Tournament, the Wildcats took care of the Cougars in four straight games to place 11th overall.

The Wildcats had their best game of the series in the opener, defeating Caldwell, 266-212. They stayed on the Cougars in game two, winning 212-179 for the 2-0 lead. They were able to beat the Cougars, 182-175 in game three, and then finished them off with a close 197-194 game four.

Nationally ranked No. 16 Merrimack won the Northeast Region Roundup, defeating No. 12 Mount St. Mary's, 4-2. No. 24 Delaware State defeated No. 19 Fairleigh Dickinson for third place, 4-3.

The CACC Championship will be hosted by Chestnut Hill College at Pike Lanes in Southampton, Pennsylvania. The Wildcats earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will face off against No. 3 Felician in the first round of the double elimination portion of the bracket. The quarterfinal matchup is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22.
